Solar Power Energy-An Introduction

!: Solar Power Energy-An Introduction

Renewable energy sources are of great importance to the survival of the planet, to the continued use of our modern conveniences and luxuries and to the climate. The use of non-renewable energy is using up over supplies, while at the same time bringing about more rapid climate change as a result of carbon emissions.

Renewable power on the other hand means using the planet's abundant natural resources to power things indefinitely-such as the wind, the sun, and the sea. In the case of the sun, solar power energy is currently being used more and more widely as a replacement for fossil fuels and this is allowing many households and businesses to reduce their carbon footprints while at the same time reducing their energy bills and becoming more self dependent.

Solarpower energy uses solar panels and this can work in two ways. These two types of solar power energy panels are:

Solar Voltaic: Which uses the light in the sun in order to excite chemicals on the panels which become converted into electricity. This energy is then converted into alternating current with a transformer and stored until such time in capacitors as you need it. These solar panels can then power any household device just like your mains socket, but don't often collect enough power to power homes solely just yet.

Solar Thermal: Which uses the heat energy from the sun in order to heat up tiny tubes of water. These tubes then get used in order to heat various areas-such as pools, homes, sheds, greenhouses etc. The energy is not converted into an electric currenthowever I know it can't be used for other applications.

There are other differences too with solar power energy panels. For instance some are ' active ' while others are ' passive '. This denotes where the solar panels stay in one position and absorb more heat during certain times (passive) or whether they move around in order to follow the sun and to constantly absorb the maximum amount of heat (active). Of course active solar panels can collect more energy as a result of their moving mechanisms, but they also require energy in order to operate which taxes this energy collected, and at the same time they are more expensive to install and maintain.

Solar panels are then used in a range of situations, in gardens or on cars, but when solar voltaic panels are used around the home thiswill often mean huge foil panels arranged on the sloped roofs of the buildings in order to create the most surface area-by connecting multiple panels it is possible to increase the voltage and to collect more energy.

In a way, all energy is solar power energy-wind for instance is caused by pressure changes created by the heat of the sun and even fossil fuels are a result of biofuels, or energy left over in plants and animals thanks to photosynthesis. So why not go directly to the source with solar power energy?

Landscape Lighting Tips For Your Entire Home

!: Landscape Lighting Tips For Your Entire Home

Landscape lighting tips will help brighten your gardens and landscape during the evening hours. Some landscape lighting tips are meant to show off different areas of your garden landscape. Landscape lighting is not only popular to homeowners but also business owners to highlight the business building during the evening. Everyone enjoys low voltage lighting and solar lighting because they are inexpensive and easy to install and are available to purchase almost anywhere.

Low voltage lighting has been around the longest and you will find are used by many homeowners. Low voltage refers to the line that is sending the voltage from the house outlet to a transformer and lowers the voltage to only 12 volts. This style is quite safe and can be install easily without hiring an electrician or without procuring a permit. The transformer that comes with the low voltage kit will plug into a 110/120v outlet located on the exterior of your home. Multiple cable runs are attached to the transformer that can connect up to a group of six light fixtures.

Solar units have become more popular these days as outdoor lighting because they are easier to install than the low voltage kits due to the fact there are no wires attached. All you do is attach a fixture or solar panel where it will receive direct or indirect sunlight. Some solar lights come with a solar panel that is attached with a wire; these are usually spot lights or uplights that highlight an area that is usually sitting in darkness most of the time. You position the light on a tree or some other object to be highlighted and the solar panel needs to be inserted in an area that receives sunlight to absorb the sun's energy. There are some solar lights that are recessed for placing in decks and others for placing on posts or railings; these will need a screwdriver for installation. The solar landscape fixtures consist of a solar panel, LED bulb, and anywhere between 1 and 4 rechargeable batteries. The energy from the sun will be changed to electrical energy by way of the solar panel and be stored in the batteries. It will take about eight to ten hours of sun to completely charge the batteries after the initial installation of the solar landscape lights. After the charging is complete the units will come on at dusk.

Here are more landscape lighting tips that will apply either to low voltage or solar lights for good results in the garden. You can accomplish uplighting by placing the light below a target and positioning the beam on an upwards angle for highlighting, this will create a focal point. Downlighting is done by doing just the opposite; place the light source high above an object and position the beam of light on a downward angle to highlight an object or large area. By placing a downlight close to ground level it will create light puddles to light a walkway or pathway. Grazing an object means to position the light close the surface and it will display the texture of the surface. To silhouette an object hide the lights behind and below that object and the night sky will show its silhouette.

Other than the above ways to light objects there are other ways such as spread lighting, path lighting, moon lighting and security lighting. Spread lighting is done by using low-level lights to cast light upon ground covers, shrubs, or flower beds; these can also be used underwater to highlight a pond. Path lighting can consist of low impact lights or lights that are shielded so they shine on the path for visibility and safety. Moon lighting is accomplished in the same manner as downlighting as described above. We use security lighting to guard against crime and uninvited pests. It is best to illuminate all areas that intruders like to hide and the best ones for that are spotlights that are set to come on when any type of motion occurs.

There are a few things to avoid in regards to landscape lighting. When there are too many lights lighting up your property it will look too garish and you do not want that. You basically only want to bring out the most interesting aspects of your landscape features, structures, and/or special areas. When you place lights along a pathway do not line them up evenly, alternate them for each side and make sure they are spaced according to what the manufacturer recommends.

Do some experimenting with low voltage lighting and solar lighting. Both types of lighting are flexible enough to move things around and adjust angles for the right effect. Some solar lighting spotlights and the low voltage lighting kits have wiring that you can bury but can be left until last until everything is positioned correctly. When your patio area and the landscape in the front yard look good to the eye you wisely used some good landscape lighting tips.

Braun Series 7 790cc & 760cc - Comparison and Differences

!: Braun Series 7 790cc & 760cc - Comparison and Differences

There are two common versions of the Braun Series 7 shaver in the USA. The 790cc itself which has all the bells and whistles, and the 760cc.

There are not too many differences between these models in that basically they both utilize the same shaver technology, but the 760cc is missing certain features that you might value having. So let us examine what these differences are.

The differences between the 790cc and the 760cc

The main difference between the 790cc and 760cc is that rather the 760cc's display panel is not as useful as the 790ccs panel.

The 790cc's display panel provides detailed information on the level of battery charge remaining in the rechargeable battery. It does this by displaying up to six blocks on the left side of its display panel to represent a fully charged battery. As the charge depletes, so do the number of blocks that are lit up. This is useful for telling you how much of the 50 minute charge capacity is left in your shaver. On the right hand side are another six blocks representing the hygiene level of the shaver. The clean and renew unit will select an appropriate clean program to restore the shaver to full hygiene level, and this indicator is useful to tell you which cleaning program eco, normal or intensive the shaver is likely to run, or in other words how long you will need to leave the shaver in the cleaning unit for.

The 760cc's display panel only has three indicator blocks that only represent how much battery charge is left in the battery, representing high, mid and low battery charge levels.

The 760cc also lacks a fast clean option on the accompanying Clean and Renew unit. This is a quick 25 second power clean designed to quickly flush out debris when you need your shaver cleaned quickly before a shave. You would not need this feature if you remember to clean the shaver after use anyway, but it might be a feature you may like to have just in case. Other than these two things, another difference of lesser significance is in cosmetic appearance. The 790cc is colored with a mixture of a silver main frame and dark blue accent, whereas the 760cc is silver with a grey accent.

At the time of writing, the difference in price between these two shavers is rather negligible, as the 760cc can be purchased for 4.99, while the 790cc is just more at 9.99. So, as you are spending over 0 anyway, the question is whether you feel that you might as well get the top end model and have all the features for just an extra more.
